Hello!! This is my first time growing tomatoes from seed, and I noticed my Brandywine tomato seedlings have different leaf shapes. My understanding is that they should be potato leaf shape, like the one circled in this pic. Will the leaf shape on the others change overtime as new growth comes in? Is it possible the seed pack came with mixed seeds? I bought from Tomato Fest and the pack was Brandywine, Suddaths Strain.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Some Brandywines don’t have the potato leaf, but this strain should. I would reach out to the seed supplier, something is definitely wrong here.

There was at least one other post recently about a Brandywine Sudduth strain seed pack producing regular leafed plants. They shouldn’t be.

Seems like you got a mislabeled seed pack. Where did you buy the seeds? Were they a reputable seller? This kind of stuff is relatively common from Etsy or Amazon sellers. It is less common from an established seed supplier like Johnny’s or Tomato Fest, but it still happens.

Hopefully they are a least a regular-leaf Brandywine variety. But if you had your heart set on that particular variety you should go out and try to source some other plants.

Sorry this happened to you on your first attempt.

Brabdywine are usually the potato leaf variety. I would assume that maybe a F1 variety was harvested for seeds and you got different varients from the original cross. I’d think the supplier has messed up somehow.
