I was de weeding my garden today and mindlessly pulled these out. Upon closer inspection I realised I may have made a mistake. This is the only picture that I have however I do not feel itchy yet although I know it can take some time. haven’t found clear answers anywhere else through my own research so figured I’d ask here as I panic wash my clothes.

It takes a day to start feeling itchy. But rest easy, this is not poison ivy. Its a compound leaf with five leaflets. This appears to be a box elder sapling.

    Definitely not poison ivy.

Anyway, in my experience it can take up to a week for the rash to appear depending on the skin it touched, I think thicker skin takes longer. This is why the rash seems to “spread” over time and there is the urban legend you can spread it by scratching. Not true, you just don’t get it all at once.

Good news for your skin, bad news for the ecosystem. That’s Ailanthus altissima, tree of heaven

Poison sumac has an opposite leaf arrangement while poison ivy has an alternating arrangement with its compound 3 leaf arrangement. Looks more like the poison sumac to me but I am not an expert.
