I originally posted this on the pothos subreddit thinking it was a pothos plant. It is actually a philodendron.

So I know absolutely nothing about plants. This was gifted to my mom and she neglected it for a few weeks. She bought some miracle gro potting mix for me to try and save it but I have no idea what to do! I just put it in the pot in the photo with the miracle gro and soaked it thoroughly in the sink after someone on the pothos subreddit said that’s what I should do. If there is any chance I can save it I want to try. Any tips on what I should do?

Philodendrons like more water than pothos do, but they do not like to be soggy. Miracle Gro is a little heavy, so try to water lightly but more often (wait for it to be dry halfway down), rather than soaking. It’s ok you soaked it the first time though, because the soil in the bag us probably pretty dry.

If you can put it in a window that faces east, that’s best. They like light, but not harsh afternoon sun.

If you oj can get a stake or pole, it will bemuch happier, because philodendrons are climbing plants. Tie it to the pole loosely.

    Hope that helps.
