This is beautiful! What I would give to sit there and read a book with a nice tea or coffee 😍

  2. It looks dreamy but dare I mention the mosquitoes, oh the mosquitoes.

I did the same thing to my front patio two years ago and it was incredible. My only issue is they get kind of spent mid to late summer and don’t look so good. Weeded diligently the next year, like I always do, and doing tomatoes to surround the patio this year. There’s one or two morning glory sprouts out there I will soon weed. They’re easy seedlings to identify and don’t pervasively stay in the soil by their roots with runners like bamboo. I don’t get the reddit hate for morning glories. Looks great!

People are being dramatic. Morning glories can be easily gotten rid of.

A clematis would have been a much better option for this.

There are dozens of species of morning glories, all with different levels of weediness and vigor. Ipomoea purpurea (annual purple morning glory) is the one most people have had problems with, as well as Convolvulus arvensis (field bindweed).

I can’t tell for sure from the distant picture, but it very much looks like a Calystegia species (island morning glory or coast morning glory) native to California. They are grown in gardens but get a bad rap by association.

  7. I grow morning glories every year on the side of my house and they die every year/never come back. I always have to re-sprinkle seeds.

Why isnt my morning glory terrorizing me like it terrorizes all of you 😫

    You planted morning glory….. voluntarily?
