In celebration of National Gardening Week (27th April to 3rd May), David Wilson Homes has donated 10 gardening equipment sets to pupils at Edenham CE Primary School in Bourne, to encourage hands-on learning and a love of the outdoors.

National Gardening Week is the UK’s largest gardening celebration, uniting thousands of individuals, community groups and cultural organisations in activities that share a passion for plants. It encourages people of all ages to grow plants, spruce up their surroundings, and share gardening knowledge.

The housebuilder’s donation aims to inspire children to take part in gardening activities, helping them to understand where food comes from, develop new practical skills and enjoy the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of spending time outside.

Each gardening set includes a child-sized watering can, hand fork, trowel and gardening gloves to enable pupils to safely plant, grow, and care for flowers and vegetables in their school’s outdoor space.

Michael Pasqualino, Headteacher at Edenham CE Primary School, said:

“It is great that David Wilson Homes recognises the importance of giving children the opportunity to learn about and care for our green spaces. We are very grateful for the donated resources that will help us do this.”

Located near the housebuilder’s Pastures Place development on Bourne Road in Corby Glen, the school welcomed the donation as a positive way to enhance outdoor learning and promote healthy, active lifestyles.

Rachael Harrison, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said:

“We’re delighted to support Edenham CE Primary School during National Gardening Week by donating these gardening equipment sets. Gardening is a fantastic way for children to learn new skills, work as a team and enjoy the benefits of being outdoors.

“Supporting schools in the communities where we build is extremely important to us, and we hope this donation helps to inspire the next generation of gardeners.”
