I check my flowers every morning and every evening. It rained this morning and this evening I noticed what I thought at first was powdery mildew on one of my dahlias. Looking closer it looks like some kind of chemical was intentionally dumped on my flowers ?

How to I help these flowers recover also what on earth was dumped on these flowers ?

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:

When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!

*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).

If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.

If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

Without a sample theres no way to know.

Looks vaguely like watered down paint, maybe someone sprayed off a paint brush nearby.

Also could be DE that got wet.

I’d doubt anything beyond that since I don’t see any immediate damage

I’ll also note I live on 2 acres not near anyone.

Could this be bird poop? I once came outside to my car covered in the same amount of bird poo as pictured on the dahlias. I don’t know if I angered a flock or someone got sick… but it was an incredible amount.

Do you have large birds around like seagulls, cormorants, geese or ducks around?

Do you hear owls at night? Usually I see this under owl nests where I live.
