I received this calathea from a friend after they moved in November. It seemed happy over the winter, and now it’s sending up a bunch of new growth (yellow, pink is what was already there). Some of the leaf stalks are pretty long, though. Does this mean it needs more light?

If it’s in a corner not directly under a grow light it needs more light. Right next to the window is bright indirect at best, the further you get away from the window the worse off it is. By the time you get to about 4-6 ft from the window you may as well have it in the dark.
It looks otherwise super healthy and great so you could move it closer to the window or grab a grow light if you love it in that specific place.

It’s a Ctenanthe not a Calathea, close relatives though.

Like Calatheas they tend to be spider mites magnets so watch out for that.

They can also suffer from tap water if it has a lot of chlorine/chloramine.
