Hello! I'm new to alocasias and exotic houseplants in general. I picked up an alocasia frydek about 2 weeks ago. She's has 5-6 new leaves unfurl in the past week, but I'm noticing one of the smaller, already established leaves seems to be drooping. I just watered it yesterday, and 6 days prior to that. She's in an African violet soil with extra airation based on recommendations of the nursery. They said it allowed for good drainage while keeping the roots moist without holding too much water versus the normal chunky aroid mix where I would possibly have to water more frequently. If more leaves were looking droopy, I'd think maybe the lighting, but as a newbie, it looks like it's maybe only the one. Any recommendations?

Not a frydek. That’s the variegated version. This is a cute green velvet.

Older leaves to die so don’t worry much as long as the new leaves aren’t dying then that’s fine

Agree with other comment about older leaves dropping which is normal, but this pot does seem a tad big for the size of those plants IMO. I would maybe size down if you can, it’s more likely to get rot when it’s that big of a pot without roots to fill it out.

Based on the pic, it’s the oldest leaf that’s dropping which is normal. To maintain maximum leaf, fertilize every watering. How big were the roots? That pot looks very large compared to its needs. Be cautious about overwatering until you understand how much water it needs. I’ve been waiting for those to appear in shops near me! Oh and careful w spider mites, alocasias attract them. Clean the leaves every so often
