Eastern Massachusetts. Mother in law just dumped a box of baking soda around half of her lawn saying it was to kill the grubs and she looked at me like I had two heads when I told her I’m pretty sure doing that will kill the grass and ruin the soil for a while. She does her best to work on her lawn however has not had much success since I’ve known her. My question is, is it as bad as I think it is? and if so what should she expect after doing this?

Bunch of sodium ain’t gonna be good for anything, but the bicarb will lime. Get some gypsum in there and water the fuck out if it.

Why… wouldn’t she just buy something that’s specifically made to treat for grubs?

Baking soda is a home remedy to help get rid of certain weeds and fungi in your lawn if used sparingly.

Better hope for a downpour tonight to wash it all off

  5. Baking soda is basic right? Just counter it with same amount acidic

I guess it’s just a matter of fixing the pH

Grab your shop vac, do your best. Then grab a beer and forget it happened.
