YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A celebration took place today at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park — the Youngstown Flea’s second annual Mother’s Day Market, meant to honor moms across the Valley.
“Everybody’s Mom is out, we get to enjoy the flower garden, it’s a beautiful day today. So, we’re really happy to be here,” owner of Simply Made by Liv, Olivia Colomon said.
“Moms are what make the world go round. The beauty of life and birth and spring, it’s what makes all of us on the earth people,” mother Kelli Schatz said.
Local vendors and makers from food, to clothing, to jewelry were in attendance.Families also had the chance to walk through the 12-acre flower garden…All to give mothers a day out.
“They deserve to have a day where they can shop and do whatever they would like. And to be able to be amongst the beautiful flowers and the atmosphere and the uplifting environment, this is their day,” owner Carmella Williams of Carmella Marie said.
Both moms and children shared what Mother’s Day means to them.
“Being a Mom completely changed the trajectory of my life in absolutely phenomenal ways. My daughter is my favorite thing that has ever existed. It’s just something that’s life-changing,” Schatz said.
“We wouldn’t be here without them, right? My mother, the reason I’m an entrepreneur is because of her. She’s an entrepreneur, worked for an entrepreneur. She showed me how to live off of those small business paychecks. Moms make the impossible possible,” Williams said.
Many say they plan to make the Mother’s Day Market a yearly family tradition…As the community takes today to celebrate moms across the Valley.
“Moms make the world go round. Without mothers, nobody would be here. So to get to be out and about with my Mom and everybody else with their Mom, it’s a beautiful thing,”
