Progression 19 months apart first pic (front) is today and the second pic is from August 2024 when it was first wired. I then repotted into an Anderson flat in spring 2025, then fed heavily all through last year. Unwired late spring/early summer 2025. Some branches set but most did not or only did so partially, and rebounded quite rapidly. This is not unexpected.
The heavy feeding led to backbudding on bare wood which was the goal.
This spring I’ve guy wired the branches down mainly to expose the interior buds to light to push the silhouette further in. I’ll be keeping this tree in this flat for another year or two, while allowing interior buds to develop further.
