I got these plants last summer/autumn, they were small and I repotted them as soon as they outgrew their first pots, they grew pretty fast and were doing great at first. I kept them on the windowsill in my bedroom(east facing window) during winter but placed them on the floor in spring because the sun was shining on them for almost the whole day which they didn’t seem to like. They started to turn brown a few months ago, at first only a little but now every leaf has a brown tip. I water them about one a week and they’re planted in soil (picture included but I think it’s soil for vegetables?🙂‍↕️).
I know they need bigger pots, how large do I need to go? Is the empty one I put beside it big enough for now?

I’d appreciate any tips on what soil to use, where to place them and how to best care for them!
Thank you to anyone willing to help✨🌸

Tips are brown from root stress.

Its usually from too much water, too often, or poor drainage. Water deeply, and let the soil dry out between waterings. Benign neglect is the best strategy.

It may also be root stress. If you see roots escaping through drainage holes, then its time to repot, but dont upsize the pot too fast. This is nearly a succulent, it stores water in its roots, which need a lot of air. When a pot is too big, the extra soil without roots stays wet too long. So we keep pot size small, and move up in small increments.

Any potting soil is good. They aren’t picky, as long as it drains well. Garden soil is not for spider plant, but potting soil has lots of compost and things like coir and perlite for drainage & aeration.

Does your water source contain fluoride? These guys are particularly prone to phytotoxicity from fluoride. 💚
