I have a spring box on my property that ran 20 years ago when I was a kid. the lid blew off and it filled with years of leaves. the spring runs year round- i suspected it was a clay lense type spring at first- but it stays trickling steady even in severe drought. the creek definitely gets stronger as it flows across my property and is decently strong by the time it leaves my property, it's just a trickle at the well though.

the creek now originates underneath the outlet pipe.

it seems safe enough to get into. only a few feet deep and seems like rock solid field stone and mortar. I would definitely shore it before I did anything inside it, i admittedly jumped in and out real quick without it. I have access to trash pumps and those kind of things too, but it is in a remote location on my property, where I dont have road access until I have some dirt work done.

where do I start? or is this a lost cause?

I had the same thing on my homestead but rather than try to rehab the current well, I dug a new shallow well in a dry spot downstream then diverted the water to it once ready.
