As you can see, the "if it fits, I sits" rule is being applied very literally here. I’ve tried giving him his own dedicated space on the balcony wall to climb and sit, but he completely ignores it in favor of squashing my poor plants.

Any tips on how to make him stop using my pots as a seat? I’m worried about the plants dying (and him potentially eating something he shouldn't). He’s a stubborn ginger boy, so he needs a very convincing reason to move!

I’d remove pots from the spots where he likes to sit. This is how I do with my cat. She voices her opinion about plant placement with her teeth just because she’s gotten too lazy to push them down.

  2. Lost my bud a couple years back. A good problem to have 😪❤️

I have an empty pot for my cat. Not empty, it’s got soil in it, but no plants. Looks like the best compromise, she’s got a comfy place to nap at, in the sun, among the ither plants in the balcony… and she doesn’t squash my other plants and flowers. She accepted the system quite quickly, too, she respects the rest of the pots as long as I respect her pot and don’t water it lol

The first photo is perfect for printing and framing and also as a postcard. It had such a vibe, wow 😍😍😍

I don’t blame him. It looks amazing! Can I rent a time slot? ☺️

It honestly looks like your sweet boy is trying to help plant too!☺️

my daughte’s blue Russian did the same thing so she got a wall hammock so he could lounge and see outside. although that didn’t stop him chewing on the favored spider plant!

    your photo is adorable though!

Your cat wants to sit in a warm sunny spot and watch the birds. Give him some space to do that.

I’ve left a cat sized spot on my window sill, because he has enemies to survey, a kingdom to look down upon, and birds to chirp at

Sorry, once you have kids, you have to learn not to get attached to things. You will live longer than your cat. Enjoy his company now, enjoy plants in the 2040s

I have two pots on my balcony with catnip plants and cat grass in them. Maybe yours would like that too? Besides, maybe if you have space get a rack or plant stand thing where you can put them. I have several and that’s where the plants are not interesting at all to my cats, so far…

I am no help. I bought shelves so my cat could have her windowsill back, losing prime lighting. Then I had to rearrange the lower shelves because she would go on those to chew on plants.

I use a granular product that irritates the nose of rodents, cats, etc. I use it outdoors…I’m not sure about indoor application, though I don’t see why you couldn’t use it indoors. It doesn’t harm them, just irritates their nose the first time they sniff it and then they generally stop messing with it at all.

Both my cats think my raised beds are posh toilets 🤣
I’ve just given in trying to shift them and I’ll wait for the plants to take over while I scoop the poop…

I had to put pinecones in all of mine, I tried some of the 3d printed guards but those didn’t help

Get some bird spike or stick forks in

If you can, try to grow cat grass in a wide stable pot. It attracts them and is tough because it’s grass.

Put dirt in his bed and put the bed around the plants lol you’ll probably have to get the plants off of spaces he can jump. Hang them or get shelves, you could try to put those bird spikes around the side of the ledge to encourage no jumping.

He doesn’t eat the plants? Well there’s a plus at least. Because a lot of those are toxic to him. My little hairy jerk eats my plants so I have to keep them very high up, which can make watering an adventure.

    He’s a cutie
