My previous post was mistaken! I did not dig deep enough. It turns out deep inside the monster there was enough moisture. And there was approx. 10cm height of relatively good compost. I had to use it, I laid it down under some new grass at various places. Hope it will help to revive the lawn, which got a bit tired at places. (too much compression, too little air)
