Sister planted trees along her back fence to eventually have some privacy from the neighbors. How do I tell her that the only way that this projected would have actually worked is if she would have planted 56 cypresses along the fence?

Im afraid to tell her that she also planted them entirely too close to the fence. They appear to be almost touching the fence, but they need to be at minimum 3 ft from it. 😭

Does she plan on destroying that fence and making another one 5 feet back

Well, I see 20 trees and additional fence space on either side. She just needs 36 more. Could plant them in a triangle pattern – so plant in between what’s there just three feet out in the yard. Fill that space just fine.

As far as telling her, you wanna plant 36 more, or just keep quiet? 😁

  4. It looks as if she planted them less than a foot from the fence. Those trees get huge and will grow big enough to push in that fene. She should have been 3-4 feet from the fence.

i mean, if she wants it as a living fence in about 5-10 years, its great, but it looks like thats the neighbors fence?

Are they Italian or Leyland. Some look like one and some look like the other. Nah those gotta be Leyland cypress. Italians are thin. And fairly wispy at that size. No where near that wide. Pull em up and spread em out in a staggered manner. They might even go the distance. And actually grow fairly quickly. But minimum like 10’ apart. Maybe more.
