Golden cane me thinks.
Golden cane, grows a huge root ball that lifts the soil surface and can crack your pool
One little garden HaCk I’ve used to get a root ball out is…..an engine crane.
It isn’t a normal household item I know. Im a car enthusiast also.

It’s definitely not a cane palm which would be shooting more and more canes from the base. This is something like an Alexander palm. Best way to cut this down would be to cut all the canes, then drill and poison the base and let it rot out over time which makes it much much easier to chip out once it’s dead. Let time do the hard work for you.
