Couple a weeks the master gardners in my county had a plant sale. I didn’t think many would show up. It was packed. Luckily I got some good plants

Our county extension office had their plant sale today too!! I got there 30 minutes before open. Nowhere near as large or as well attended as yours but still a super happy positive environment with so many plants!
The ones in my area have been getting more and more popular each year, it is so insane to see!

I went to one last weekend and was on the phone with my dad walking in from the lot. He told me to ābe carefulā; cause the roving gangs of thugs at native plant sales? Looks like a dangerous group ya got there.

Why on earth would anyone wait in a line like that just to buy plants.
That seems incredibly poorly designed or planned. What a disaster.

I have a neighbor that told me about her native plant garden about two years ago. I was immediately intrigued, and now doing my best to replace a bunch of plants in my own small garden. Most of what I have is “tolerable” so I’ll keep it around, but I need to make room for the “beneficials.”

So heartening to see! Iām in Ontario, Canada and the lineups for our local native sale start an hour before the sale does. Itās pretty much all sold out within 2 hours.

Chicago area native plant sales are nuts. Iāve seen similar lines on the North Shore.

Our county extension office does their native plant sale via online pre-order only, with scheduled pickups (remnant of the pandemic). This year I didn’t have time to do the order until 24 hrs after they opened the site, and everything was already sold. It’s so popular that if you don’t get in immediately, no plants for you!

I think I see Tallamy in the crowd back there throwing up the horns.

the cincinnati zoo’s spring native plant sale had three dates (sequential saturdays) and all the reservations sold out before the first week. i was so disappointed bc i was easily able to go last year but also what an incredible thing to be upset about.Ā

We have such beautiful natives in Illinois.
Iāve found huge inspiration from recent trips to Starved Rock. š¤
