I have this random spot on the side of my house. What can I line it with instead of this wood that were here when I moved in?

   It could be that they put the wood there to keep people from hitting the house and looks like they filled it in with wood chips. This time don’t put the wood there just put a weed barrier and white rocks, some kind of rock, then put three or four big flower pots with some kind of plant that’s drought tolerant. That’s pretty much dead soil in the ground there anyway since it probably gets salted & trampled
