Gardening can be challenging, especially without the right tools. That’s why shoppers are praising an ‘easy to use’ cordless lawn strimmer that ‘makes gardening a pleasure’ – and it’s currently on sale.

Yimbly, an online marketplace owned by this site’s parent company, Reach Plc, is now offering the handy Drew&Cole Lawn Barber for £29.99, down from £39.99. However, shoppers can save even more when entering the code SPRING10 at checkout, bringing the price down further to £27. This beats Amazon’s current offer of £29.99.

The brand say the Lawn Barber offers ‘complete garden trimming and edging in one lightweight, handheld, compact and powerful unit’. There are no power cords or extension leads and no need for petrol – simply charge it up and enjoy 50 minutes of run time.

Being ‘completely cordless’, gardeners can trim their entire garden without hassle or worrying about cables. The double blades spin at 10,000 rpm, the site says, and users can protect their flowers with the built-in flower guard which locks into place with one click.

The tool has a 13cm cutting diameter and an adjustable angle trimming head, and it weighs less than 2kg. With one-handed operation, an ergonomic hand grip, an additional stability handle, and the adjustable pole, gardeners will find trimming a ‘breeze’.

However, if shoppers are looking for alternatives, Argos has this McGregor 25cm Cordless Grass Trimmer – 18V for £45, down from £60. This handheld tool features an 18V Li-Ion battery and charger, providing up to 45 minutes of run time. It also has an adjustable rotating head which switches between trimming and edging for neat borders and changes the angle to reach under smaller spaces.

Or at Currys, there’s this RYOBI 18V One+ OLT1832 Cordless Grass Trimmer in the colour yellow for £73.99, down from £82.99. This has a cutting diameter of 25cm and it weighs 2.3kg, while the ‘EasyEdge function’ lets users switch between trimming and edging without the need to bend down.

There is currently only one four-star review on Yimbly for the Drew&Cole Lawn Barber, however others have left their thoughts on Amazon. One impressed buyer said: “Think of all the things you hate about strimming, the cable, gone, the cutting wire, gone, the limited distance you can go, gone. This makes gardening a pleasure again and it’s so fast – just click in the rechargeable battery and you are ready to go. Magic.”

A second person shared: “I bought this as I have Arthritis in both hands and the lawn mower is now too heavy to lift. Lawn barber is very lightweight, adjustable and very easy to use.”

Others were more critical, with one writing: “Not what I expected, OK for short grass, light (and) easy to handle, (but the) battery doesn’t last long enough as said on (the) product.”

In contrast, a five-star review reads: “This is so easy and light to use. The battery lasts for quite a long time.”

As part of a longer review for the Drew&Cole Lawn Barber, someone else shared: “So far, delighted with it. Much easier to trim the bits of lawn that you can’t access with the mower and edge up the lawn. Really lightweight, too.”
