There was conversation in another post about how jarrariums age over time. I had mentioned I had created a "forest floor" jarrarium and how it looked good at first, but after 5 months it's started to look leggy and less well designed. One of the responders asked to see it, so I am happy to oblige.
Anyway, here it is. It's a glass cookie jar with a rubber seal. The layers are: small chunks of lava rock, activated charcoal for fish tank filters, and reptisoil. The collected a variety of moss from different locations in the woods (open ground, rotting bark, tree bases, etc.) from North Carolina. I live in Chicago currently, so I wanted to bring back some of the "fresh air and earth" to enjoy when I feel a bit stressed and need a vacation.
The first two images are from when I first made it in January, and the last two are from today.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy!

Woah, nice! I like the lone mushroom 🍄🟫 and the sediment strata. It is looking a bit over grown but not badly and really lends to the rainforest vibe. Do you have any critters in there?
