We have had this fig for 3 years and have had no issues with it. Recently, it has had 5 leaves turn yellow and we removed them. We noticed the dirt looked bad and was compacted so we removed the top couple of inches, broke up the deeper soil gently, added fresh soil on top, and gently "drilled" some soil down from the top. Gave it a good watering and waited. This is about 1.5 weeks later and we are seeing some new yellowing. The previous yellowing was on the back side that is more bare, the new is on the front facing the sun. We haven't been rotating it as we should. Does this seem like normal leaf drop or a sign of something more serious? Want to keep this tree healthy and around for a long time so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

figs are notoriously dramatic, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just mad that you touched its roots and will drop some leaves as it recovers to being ruffled. But check for pests – the underside of the leaves and any nooks and crannies. thrips esp.
When’s the last time the roots were checked? It could be severely rootbound and throwing a fit if it hasn’t been repotted in some time.
Idk about if it’s ok but jfc that thing is huge in that room 😂
