My cuttings were in a shot glass of water with other philodendron cuttings, but only these have the white stuff. The stuff is firmish but can be scrapped off.

Cuttings are kept away from direct light, across the room from a west facing window.

    That’s normal. It’s just the interior of the plant taking in too much water and bursting out a little.

    Its called callus. It is undifferentiated tissue. You get it a lot in tissue culture and propagation scenarios. Often in your case it will form before the cells figure out they want to be a root.

    I’ll also add that I’m pretty certain I’m looking at a pothos, not a philodendron. Noting the lead shape and, more glaringly, the lack of dried leaf sheaths
