Is this savable? I ripped the long root off by accident when repotting?

  1. Yeah I think it has a chance. I had one that I did this to, and I just replanted it in dry soil and it grew roots again in a couple of weeks. I can still see a bit of root at the bottom of yours so I think it’ll recover.

In general, I’d plant the lithop in a gritty mix, almost to the split. That will protect the plant’s sides from sun scorching. Do you live in the N Hemisphere? If you do, then the plant’s growth vibe works in your favor. I’d let it be for a few days. Using a spray bottle mist the substrate around the plant enough to introduce a small amount of water. Repeat in a week with more water to go deeper into the substrate.

I did the above about a year ago with 2 plants that had broken off from the main plant during a repotting. Over the next few months, the pair went through a strange splitting (one even split twice in the same cycle). This past summer (S Hemisphere) the plants seemed to be back in sync with their normal growth cycle.
