Gypsy variety from Johnny’s. Tender and sweet.
Sowed into soil blocks on Feb 14. 12 weeks start to finish. The rows are maturing quickly now. Broccoli season is in full swing.
I’m trailing the small Tiara cabbages in the photo. They weighed just over 1 pound each and OMG are they sweet. Highly recommend the variety but if you have another spring cabbage you enjoy, please share in the comments.

I would disagree that the taste is worth EVERY moment. You soak your broccoli in salt water until all the worms are gone. You boil it a few minutes. You plate it up. You take a delicious bite. Then you see another cabbage worm on your plate. Blech.
Looks awesome and congrats! The one thing I would add is that region matters when choosing brassicas. I’m a bit north of Toronto and chose Belstar Broccoli as it would perform well in my weather and I don’t think Gypsy would perform as well. I will grow Imperial for my fall broccoli.
Same with Cauliflower – I have a spring variety and then a fall variety – Minuteman and Twister for those scoring at home!
Those look magnificent! Those are two of the vegetables I love eating, but can never quite get them to work out right here in Texas. Partly the climate and partly that I don’t have “The Knack.”
