I believe these are real plants. Ikea near my place (Australia) also has glass containers with real life succulents on glued pebbles. Horrible.

You know it’s not normal.

I’ve sent that before, surprised others haven’t. I think it sucks either way but def seen it lots of places with real plants, succulents only for some reason

Normal? I guess. Ideal, no.
Did you get this plant very recently? Where did you get it?
I stopped buying plants at big box stores because they package the plants for aesthetics, not survival. Glued rocks and plastic bindings are common.
When I’ve been gifted a plant like this, I tend to replant as soon as I can. They are almost always root bound and full of bugs.

I had one and I think I soaked it in water and broke the rocks off one by one
I also had to decapitate because it was really unhealthy and etiolated from being inside a gift box at the store.

I’ve purchased something almost identical to this at a hardware store years ago. I didn’t realize the rocks were glued together until I got home. I believe I used an Xacto knife to wedge between the rocks and slowly chipped away at them, then pulled out all the crappy soil underneath and put new soil in. It was a long and crappy process, but it worked! Good luck.

I have bought them like this before. The top layer is solid. You can free them

Yes it’s “normal”. They are glued in place to keep it looking cute/so rocks don’t fall out.

I had a sago palm that came with glued rocks, I let it be for a while and then when it was time to repot some of the rocks had become unstuck already. I still had to take a screwdriver and a hammer and chisel the rocks to break them up. You can just (carefully) smash the pot to get the plants out if you don’t want to save the pot!

I bought a cactus potted in this same garbage once, I used a screwdriver to chip away at the glued rock layer, plant was fine.

I never buy these types of arrangements. They are made to look “pretty” on the shelf but not for sustained growth. Buy your succulent plant from a nursery and if you like rocks buy those from a nursery too but don’t glue em in. PS while certain rocks look good they can also retain the pot’s moisture for longer periods of time. And it makes it harder to assess the soil’s dampness before re-watering unless you use a probe. This impacts how your watering and care schedule.
