We lost all of our landscaping a couple of years ago due to construction and are finally back to getting it done. Going with azaleas, hydrangeas, boxwood, ornamental grasses for the rest but need help with what tree to plant in this bump out! I don’t want to be picking up fruit from the mulch beds but a flowering tree is ideal. The center is about 13’ off the house. Any ideas are much appreciated!

Doesn’t look 👀 far enough away from House for anything too big

Small flowering umbrella cherry would look good there

What zone? There’s a lot of shade in the picture. Is that typical, or just in the AM or PM?

    What zone are you in?

A Spring Snow Crabapple could look really nice

Zone 6 depending I would consider a dwarf redbud. Flowers, native (depending), stays small, does well in lower light or partial.

To add: skip the boxwood. They’re crap, disease ridden and you’ll be ripping it out. I agree with some native grasses, grab some native wildflower plugs to mix in. Look at some viburnum that meet size or can be trimmed. If you stick with native harder items it’s gonna cut down your long-term work a lot

Weeping blue atlas cedar, or weeping mulberry would look great! I would add some decorative boulders, and low voltage lighting.

In the big loop i see a Liquidambar ‘Gumball’ and in the small one i see a green japanese maple like shirasawanum. Some small hydrangea varients would fit nicely in between.

Crape myrtle. Their roots don’t affect the foundation and they are so pretty during summer

    Dogwood or serviceberry/Juneberry

Can’t go wrong with a white dogwood

Dogwood or redbud would provide a nice accent without intruding on your eaves.

I just put in a flamethrower redbud. Had never heard of it before but it’s super cool!

I would do a redbud cultivar… many choices to choose from; from deep purple foliage to pink variegated to chartreuse green.

That or an upright Japanese maple

What region of the US do you live? A nice crepe Myrtle with bold flowers (crimson, dark violet) would look great there.

Snow fountain weeping cherry just don’t give it an Aaron Carter hair cut.
