My woodland cottage garden renovation

I've spent the last few weeks working really hard in my garden. We are lucky enough to have this beautiful space in Cornwall, but the garden had become quite dilapidated and overgrown. I had a vision to make the garden a really lovely space to enjoy this summer. I have never done much gardening at all to be honest, its more of my partners thing. But I had the time and the vision, and I'm so pleased how its turned out!!

Honestly, I know nothing about gardening but this project has got me now looking at apprenticeships, gaining RHS certificates and trying to become a gardener! I had no idea what this would do to my overall health, mentally and physically… and now I don't want to stop. I've also been at a total loss at what to do with my life recently after a failed attempted career change. The failure resulted in giving me the time to do this, which has actually made me think I should be doing this sort of work here in cornwall. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

The grass is still to grow along the top, and the wildflowers are still to come up. I've got about 40 chilli plants on the go, inside and out. Strawberries growing, a couple of really good looking bleeding hearts (picked up from a nursery established but continuing to grow!) – and most of all I'm proud of my small belfast sink pond. I managed to get 3 belfast sinks for £30 on marketplace…!! 2 of them are Hosta homes now and the biggest is a wildlife pond. Filled up with local water from the spring in the woods and full of plants and rocks – I'm very pleased with how clear it has stayed.

Anyway, just showing off my novice skills really as I've impressed myself with this, as I genuinely have winged this as best I can. Photos show day by day progress until the final pics before it all blooms. I'll update again in a month or so!!
