It might be worth finding the point of origin to see where it’s spreading from.

Knot weed that doesnt have any leaf, will not make root shoots but if you pull them you might get more knotweed.
If you start picking the leaf of the plant after few year it will die by it self with out root shoots.
You can also eat knotweed.
