How do you know that spring has arrived in central Minnesota? Spring plant sales are popping up everywhere!
Some of the best plant sales you’ll find will be from the University of Minnesota Master Gardener volunteers who will be out Saturday and Sunday, May 16th and 17th, sharing their greenery expertise.
STEARNS COUNTY GARDENER 2026 PLANT SALE
First, the Stearns County Master Gardeners will be out and about on Saturday, May 16th beginning at 8:30 am to 11 am, or while supplies last.

There will be a wide selection of high-quality, low-maintenance plants of all kinds available for purchase that our talented Master Gardeners have grown. The best part about that is YOU KNOW these plants were planted and raised with the best care possible by people who KNOW plants.
There will be annuals, perennials, vegetables, specialty tomatoes, herbs, and more.
GET HELPFUL TIPS FROM FRIENDLY MASTER GARDENERS
Every plant that you purchase will come with a tag that gives you all kinds of helpful planting tips to get the most out of your plants.
I suggest that you get to these events 30 minutes before the doors open, simply because the best of the best usually go pretty fast. They say they’ll be open until 11 am, but there might not be anything left by then…so shop early.
Cash, check, and credit cards will all be accepted.

Similar to the Stearns County sale, volunteer Master Gardeners for Benton County will also be having an amazing plant sale…and for this one, you can sleep in a little bit.
The Benton County Master Gardener Plant Sale Plus will take place at Mississippi Heights Elementary School on Sunday, May 17th, beginning at 11 am. They did not say how long the sale would last, but my guess is until the plants are sold out, usually within about an hour. Again, get there early if you truly want the best selection.

Beautiful Photos From Clemens Gardens
This weekend was a great one to get out and do something fun. I wanted to destress, so I drove over to Clemens Gardens for a nice stroll through the gardens. What a beautiful place it is. There are flowers everywhere, as well as fountains and statues. These photos only capture part of what’s available to see, but in case you haven’t had a chance to visit, now is a great time to view them, as everything is in full bloom. Take a look at some beautiful photos and then make a plan to take your own trip. All of your senses will thank you.
