Any Harmony’s Fireworks begonia pros here?
This is my favorite of all plants. Bout 3 years ago I was the sickest I’ve ever been. I had been sick for months, it was the worst! (Pneumonia, landed me in hospital)
Well, I had a mishap with her. My hair (it’s long) got caught up in her leaves and she toppled to the floor and landed on her head! ðŸ˜
This is her 3 years after. All the growth I had in the middle died off and left with nothing in the middle. All she wants to do is throw flowers and the rhizome is just, dinky.
What have I done?
I am a keeper of all things Rex. I do have 1 cane. I’ve been caring for begonias since I was 8. I have the family heirloom beefsteak. I know begonia. I don’t know this problem.
Maybe just a re-soil? Get things situated in the middle? It’s the only thing I can think of.
I’ve tried restarting more and not been successful with just this 1 in any way. lol. I don’t understand. Lolol

More context: I use super thrive foliage pro every watering, (all my plants get the same maintenance dose), I water when I get the rex droop. East facing bathroom frosted window, on the garden tub, loves the morning sun. Humidity is an issue, I have a humidifier going in the bathroom because Arizona. 😬
So I am not a Rex professional by any means! I am a cane begonia mommy through and through. That said, I do have a couple of ideas. I am wondering if perhaps the pot is now too large for the remaining plant, post accident. I’m also thinking that a fresh bit of soil, like you suggested, could be a great idea, especially if you choose to add in any worm castings or powder nutrients. The other thing you might give a go to is leaf propagation. I know you’ve cared for them for a while now, so there’s a solid chance you’ve tried it. I wanted to suggest leaf vein cuttings just in case! I hope you’re able to help your baby recover! It’s absolutely gorgeous!
It’s still beautiful! But I’m thinking a bit over-potted?
