First things first, I’ve been in here for a couple years just observing and absorbing and I’m finally ready to dive in. When I first got interested in Bonsai my wife took me to a local botanical garden bonsai event and I learned a lot. That same season I found this red maple seedling growing out from under a shrub we had planted. It looked interesting to me and since I didn’t want a maple tree there I harvested it and it has been in this pot for about 2.5 years. The red maple in my front yard is the parent to this one.
I know it needs proper soil, so before I decide to commit to this one, based on its structure would this be worth letting it continue to grow for a couple more years? I’m in this for the long game, but if it’s not worth keeping for its sharp turn, I don’t want to waste any resources on it.
