In our regular column on design features that can create your dream home, we speak to architects Ed Glenn, of Powell & Glenn, and sole practitioner Edwina Glenn about the first-floor garden they designed for the renovation of a former South Melbourne pub into their family home.
What is it and where? A 12.5m x 6.5m first-floor east-facing courtyard garden in a renovated 1860s former hotel building, with lawn, paved edge and paved seated area and planter box vegetable patch. The garden contains a planted olive tree, planted echiums, cacti in pots, ficus and “tapestry-planted” walls with Boston ivy and deciduous vines.
