These little holes about 1cm in diameter are spread across the backyard of the rental we just moved in to, does anyone know what the cause could be? Based near Geelong, Vic

    Someone poking a walking stick

    Spider

    Cricket

    Witchity grubs

    Probably a good cross-post to /r/australianinsects

    They look like Cicada holes.

Cicadas emerge from underground when they’re fully grown.

I would say wolf spiders as that’s usually what’s in them. Easy way to tell is still a blade of grass in there gently and they grab them

Bandicoot maybe. I get them all over my lawn.

Worked out recently that mine may be lizards.

I had a hole like this and people suggested mole crickets.
