This video shows common grass seed failures like poor soil contact and offers a solution through topdressing, a key part of effective lawn renovation. It also covers lawn leveling and overseeding, providing essential lawn care tips for achieving a healthy lawn. This is one of many DIY projects you can do to improve your lawn.
If you overseeded your lawn and nothing happened—no growth, patchy spots, or thin grass—you’re not alone. And more importantly… it’s probably not the seed.
In this video, we break down exactly why grass seed fails and what you need to do differently to get real results. Most homeowners focus on seed and watering—but ignore the one thing that actually determines success: Your Soil.
At Tim Wallace Soil Mix Supply, we see this every day. Lawn overseeding projects fail not from lack of effort—but from poor soil, poor seed-to-soil contact, bad soil structure, and inconsistent moisture.

Stop focusing on the seed!?? Literally the most important variable in an overseeding project? Youve gotta be kidding. There are fantastic cultivars of high quality grass seeds. I wouldnt bother with anything else before figuring out a high quality seed.
Shit… I soiled myself 💩
