The Sonoma Botanical Garden kicked off the return of its popular “Acoustic Sunsets” summer concert series this week.

Running through Sept. 16, the concerts will include live music, local wine tastings and expanded evening access to the grounds.

Held Wednesday evenings in the garden’s outdoor amphitheater, the series will offer a family friendly setting where guests can picnic and bring leashed dogs.

This year’s lineup introduces a new monthly “Noche Latina” theme that is tied to the garden’s special exhibition, “Spirit Guides: Fantastical Creatures from the Workshop of Jacobo and María Ángeles,” on display through Sept. 7.

“Pairing ‘Acoustic Sunsets’ with ‘Spirit Guides’ will create a vibrant, immersive experience,” said botanical garden Executive Director Jeannie Perales.

“It’s a compelling way to celebrate Latin music and culture — blending exceptional performances with the exhibition in a shared evening at the garden. What is already a cherished midweek tradition will be all the more resonant.”.

Featured Latin acts include Trio Sol de Mexico, Cascada de Flores, Julio Reyes and Batachá.

Organizers say the performances aim to complement the exhibition’s vibrant, Zapotec-inspired sculptures.

Returning performers for the broader series include Jacob Phillip Benning, Clay Bell and The Sean Carscadenn Trio, alongside events such as “Open Mic Night” and “Young Talent Night.”

Guests can also enjoy tastings from regional wineries and are encouraged to bring their own food or purchase takeout from nearby Glen Ellen restaurants. Reserved picnic tables are available for a fee.

Concerts  take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with the garden closing at 8 p.m.

There will be no programs on June 10 and July 1.

Concert admission is included with the general entry fee for non-members. Admission is free for members.
