This is a gopher mound, right? No clear holes in the surface.
They seem to pop up after rain… they started showing up about a year ago, stopped completely, and just now started showing up again.

Ant hill
Moles.
They push soil up to the surface as they move around. I had them absolutely everywhere after a swarm of June bugs came in and laid eggs in the ground and grubs developed.
You can install deterrent systems that send a high pitched frequency through the ground that they can’t stand to get them out. Or you can get some chickens. They’ll eventually catch them.
Bill Murray had a method for dealing with that.
