Incredible haul from my school’s student plant sale today! Please advise: how I can rescue this gorgeous euphoria from it’s moist, crowded jail cell without either one of us dying?
It looks pretty spiky, and is already leaking a bit of its white sap from a small booboo it got during the ride home. What would you do?
I just use gloves with my euphorbs. If the spines on that one are sharp enough then gardening gloves are fine, otherwise even vinyl gloves are ok. Uproot it slowly with narrow objects like chopsticks to slowly pry it out, then gently cup it on it’s side while you move it to a new pot. It might need some support with well placed skewers criss-crossed in places until the roots strengthen after transplant, probably for several months or more. They’re slow to root and extend current roots.
Unavoidable to damage a small bit and get the sap, but it’s not going to harm the plant if it’s just a few spots, or burn a hole through you or anything haha. Clean any of it up on skin/etc with rubbing alchohol.

Gloves and thick towel. And careful with sap.

No idea, but love the idea of a student plant sale.

You could get cactus tongues or cactus gloves
