Hi everyone, I am hoping to get some guidance on a range I can expect my next house project to cost. I just want to hear from others familiar with this stuff so I don’t waste their time if I still need to save for another year. I am located in Ontario Canada for reference. After a few years hoping to add steps to the front of our house. I know this is going to be expensive but I didn’t want to just have something temporary …because usually that ends up permanent. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Others can speak more to this but I don’t think you want the dirt level going above your siding, as that looks like you’d basically fill in that whole area. But even if that’s not a problem, that amount of work is probably 30k plus.
get 3 quotes. It looks expensive af.
You had AI make the pic, why not just ask it the cost too.
40-50 thousand that’s my educated guess
That’s like 20 feet of walk up with 0 places to sit lol. Huge waste of space. Put together a budget, and hire an actual designer to make something
Are you sitting down??
You are basically building a retaining wall where one doesn’t need to be built, you are creating a problem you will need to solve, drainage. I’m guessing like 30-60k to do it properly
Park an Escalade there and you can climb over that. Same price but faster.
A lot
why is your front door so high to begin with? is your back yard at that level? piling a mound of earth up against your house is dumb. you will have to rip off tons of your siding and install whatever waterproofing is required where it meets your house. even then the parapet walls might not even hold up the earth if it’s wet. also, it might look cool from that one angle but from anywhere else it will look ridiculous. are there giant granite blocks elsewhere on your property?
At least $1k, probably more.
All these comments are so negative. Yes it’s going to be expensive but if that’s not really a concern now’s the time to do it! Any hardscaper worth their salt can knock this out. As some comments have mentioned you will want to add hand rails. I think the reference pic looks great good luck! Make sure you get at least 3 quotes
Depending on access, materials you want, availability, etc, $35k-65K. You can do most of that formed hardscape work with concrete and a talented decorative concrete artist. If you want actual quarried and stacked stone at that height and size that is also structurally sound to retain all of that material, be ready to cut some checks.
The plants, lighting, and dirt are all cheap (reasonably). The rock work is what will eat you alive on this.
Who needs steps to the front anyway, the party is around the back
So I have something similar as you but it’s a bit older. We were quoted approx $15k to fix it only.
Probably about a roof and a half
I would spend on expanding the front porch and then stairs. + added storage space below if you don’t do the excessive rock wall (it is beautiful but draining and maintainence will be an added burden)
$50-75k CAD but it’s probably one of the better ways to add value to the home in a market like Canada
My toxic masculinity thinks I can do that over a long holiday weekend with 4-5k worth of material…
but my logic knows it would more than take me 4-6 weeks and cost 20-30K and divorce papers.
Add a place to sit and such…this isn’t a good use of space or money.
Materials on the low end is 10-20k. Labor is about 20k here. If you find a good cheaper contractor/ company 40-50k but I imagine you can find quotes higher.
when your steps cost more than your house:
What’s the bet old mate goes for a pine, unpainted staircase after he gets two quotes on the above.
Man I would just build a nice wooden porch there extended out to the left. Add some gates/doors down there and it can make a nice storage space like you’re already using it for.
you have the wrong dream
