We moved into our new house in May of last year in zone 6a. When we arrived we saw the lawn for the first time (prior viewing still had snow on it 😂) and were so worried about trying to bring it back. We didn't even have a mower so we hired a company to do some mowing and apply fert to get us through the season. We missed our chance to make major changes in the fall. I joined this sub and tried to soak up as much advice as I could.
Before the season started I bought a mower ( John Deere La120 with 450 hours on it 😂) and a weedwhacker. I watched the soil temps and got my preemergent down right on time. I got my irrigation running this year right on time. I started mowing 4 weeks back and found a family of moles (which are now "indisposed").
But after the mow today I can't help but smile and have a beer looking at the pictures of where I was last year at his point. I'm excited to apply some weed and feed and grub ex in the next couple weeks. Thank you all for helping me to improve my yard.
A lot more work to be done but hot damn does this feel nice. Ad maiora semper
