Initial caveat to say I'm not the greatest at looking after plants.

This was sat in a ceramic pot and for weeks it's been dying. I've been trying to figure out whether I'm over watering, under watering, or too sunny/shady. For some reason it had never occurred to me to just take it out the pot. And look what I found! Oops

I've repotted it and given it a good drink.

Are these slightly yellow leaves likely to survive my negligence or will they all drop off ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I am sorry to tell you that this isn’t from being root bound. The root situation was pretty good. I suspect you might have thrips or something similar going on. Is this living in a sunny window? They need a lot of light. ๐Ÿ’š

Iโ€™d say itโ€™s either overwatering or underlit or a combination of the 2 (which is the usual culprit)

I donโ€™t think it was from root bound or root rot. Nor do I think itโ€™s from thrips or pests. You mentioned you used to live in a not so bright place then when you moved you put it in a sunny spot. That mightโ€™ve caused some shock to it. You have to slowly transition it. I mean the roots are good and itโ€™s grown so I hope you repotted it into a bigger pot but give it time. Some may die but new leaves will grow.

Looks like overwatering, that isnโ€™t at all root bound. Yellow/dead wonโ€™t come back but itโ€™ll grow new leaves. Let it dry out between watering.

can you show us an up close picture of some of the leaves? the browning looks very much like thrips damage.
