I planned to put squash here but none of my seeds germinated properly. So now I have this bed that is absolutely packed with spoon tomatoes and I would feel bad killing them all, but I might need to if I can get my squash seeds to pop.

I realize this isn't the worst problem to have but damn, this is a lot. I also have 5 slicer tomato varieties growing elsewhere in the yard.

did you like the spoon tomatoes? i got a free packet of seeds last year but did not care for them. I’d dig that under and plant other tomatoes if it was me.

If you dislike someone, give them a tomato plant lol. They’ll have 4,000 of the tiniest tomatoes to pick before they realize it. Source: I grow them every year. I plant them for the kids. They’ll sit and monkey pick them off the plants. None of them make it inside. Last year I grew three or four of them.

I have the same issue with tomatillos! I plan to just use them like a cover crop lol

This happened in my containers this Spring. A bunch would sprout. Then we would have a frost and they would die. Then a bunch more would sprout. Another frost, dead. I just took six large volunteers that made it through the cold snap and potted them up. No telling what they are but I have a neighbor who will plant anything tomato, so I sent them over there.

You gotta embrace it. Keep a close eye on all these and look for mutations.

Also plant some wacky varieties in the hopes that they cross with the spoons and go to seed next year.
