Hello. I am a new Dahlia grower. I have a Destinys Darkness tuber that just looks wrong. It’s leggy and the leaves are small and curling All of my tubers came from the same place and seem to be fine except this one. The conditions were all the same. Sprouted in bags. Then moved to a grow bag. Grow light. Heat mat. Water. Soil. All the same. I know leaves and color and vary but I’m starting to think something is wrong or the plant is diseased. Anyone see this before? Last picture is other tuber (different variety) that’s had the exact treatment as the first plant.

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:

When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!

*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).

If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.

If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

It’s hard to tell due to the grow lights being on. But the leaf issue is either a mite issue (start spraying with Bonide Captain Jack’s Neem Max) or it’s your grow lights something’s off with photosynthesis. Do give them too much water either, they dislike wet feet.
