River Falls Garden Club announced the students receiving internship scholarships through the program’s initiative. Each student receives $1,000 from the River Falls Garden Club.

The students: Korey Maloney (propagating fruit trees), Brooke Reuter (landscape or floral design), Suzanne Myers (genetic research) and Nina Pallo (greenhouse management). 

Since 1959 the River Falls Garden Club has been promoting gardening. The annual plant sale, in partnership with the UWRF Horticulture department, is Saturday, May 9, from 9 to noon at St Bridget’s Gym (cash or check only) at St Bridget’s School gym. Containers, hanging baskets, annuals, perennials, natives, vegetables, bulbs, herbs, or houseplants are available. Members wearing chartreuse vests will be available to answer your questions. Find a sustainable composting wool product that reduces use of water, fertilizer adding nitrogen to soil. Town and Country 4-H Club assists shoppers by carrying purchases to their vehicles.  

The Garden Club supports local organizations with this annual fundrasier: Grow to Share, internships for UWRF horticulture students,  Hope for Earth/EarthFest, May seed and seedling giveaways at River Falls Public Library, plants for library planters, Our Neighbors Place, River Falls Food Pantry, and Habitat for Humanity.

The River Falls Garden Club meets the first Monday February thru June and September through December the River Falls Public Library..  Tours are scheduled in July and August.  Members suggest speaker topics and receive a monthly newsletter.
