ILWACO — The WSU Master Gardeners Foundation of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties are sponsoring their first plant clinic and information center for 2026 on Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in the museum’s parking lot, 115 Lake Street SE in Ilwaco.

Experts will be there to address plant questions, concerns and suggestions. Common questions include: What are the optimum soil temperature conditions for vegetable seed germination? My one rhododendron is wilting and dying. What’s wrong? Moss is all over my lawn. What moss killer can I use? What tomato plants work best in a cool marine environment?

WSU Extension also supports two web sites that can help you diagnose your own plant problems.

Hortsense (https://tinyurl.com/WSU-IPM) contains fact sheets for the home gardener to manage plant problems.

Pestsense (https://tinyurl.com/WSU-Indoor-Pests) contains fact sheets for managing common indoor pest problems.

Master Gardener Mike Karvia will demonstrate how to sharpen garden tools. Bring your dull garden tools from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to learn how to effectively and safely sharpen them.
