After some yellow onions sprouted in our pantry I decided to see if they’d grow some roots, and some have been looking promising! I’m nervous because I’ve never successfully transplanted a water propagation to soil, and I’m wondering what steps I can take to make these successful. Are these roots good to go into soil? Any specific soil? Also, I am in Colorado with a South facing balcony, should I put these outside or are they better off inside? (I know that I’ve read it takes a long time to get actual onions to grow, but I’m perfectly happy with using them for the greens!)

Just stick them in soil and see what happens. The stakes could not be lower here. I put sprouting onions in soil with other plants and just let them go
