Spring has arrived, bringing with it the perfect opportunity for people to transform their gardens, and B&M stocks plants and features that could make a substantial difference to your outdoor space. Recently, shoppers have quite literally been dashing to B&M to get their hands on something in particular, and it costs just £10.

One shopper, known as Jodie at Home on TikTok, recently drew attention to the item online, where she enthused about the bargain shopping find. Alongside footage of it, she wrote: “Your sign to run to B&M for their £10 flamingo trees”, and the post swiftly generated considerable discussion.

It isn’t the first time the retailer has sold impressive gardening items either. Just weeks ago, it was also claimed that another item from the store could help to make outdoor spaces look glamorous.

Numerous people commented to say how “stunning” the trees are, with some having purchased them previously. Many admitted the trees help their gardens to look gorgeous and vibrant.

One wrote: “Bought mine from B&M five years ago. It’s massive now.” Another added: “I bought mine there last spring and it’s already grown so much! Love it.”

A third replied: “£10. I’m going tomorrow!” Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “I bought two yesterday and planted them today.”

Someone else also chimed in with: “I got two of these from B&M last year. They were beautiful then died off over winter, and I didn’t think they would survive as they were just twigs, but they have come back even more lovely.”

Another person commented: “Omg, I need these!” When questioned about their popularity, Jodie also shared some valuable insight.

In the comments section, she revealed her garden had remained largely untouched for more than 25 years. The trees are attractive, reasonably priced and quick to establish, making them ideal for a “budget garden glow up”, in her view.

If you’re hoping to transform your outdoor space without breaking the bank, this could be an excellent approach. Many suggest the trees can deliver impressive results.

Where can you find them?

Salix Flamingo trees (Hakuro-Nishiki) are stocked at B&M Garden Centres, typically arriving in store during May for around £10.

They’re frequently featured amongst “special buys” in the garden centre section and have a tendency to sell out quickly, meaning shoppers must act swiftly if they wish to secure some.

It’s worth noting that stock disappears rapidly. This is precisely why people need to move fast if they’re keen to get hold of them.

For those unfamiliar with them, a flamingo tree is a sought-after, compact deciduous dwarf willow or shrub, celebrated for its spring foliage which showcases striking flamingo-pink, white and green mottled leaves.

It’s frequently pruned into a “lollipop” standard form and suits small gardens or containers perfectly. This explains why they’ve captured so many people’s affections.

The trees work beautifully when planted in pots for patios, terraces or for framing doorways. They can equally serve as focal points in compact gardens or beds.

They are recognised for flourishing in damp, free-draining soil, which makes them ideal for positioning near ponds or water features. They need full sunlight or partial shade to achieve the best pink colouration.

Additionally, they favour moist soil and require regular watering, particularly when grown in containers. If you acquire one, it’s essential to prune the plant in early spring to help preserve its shape and promote the most vibrant pink, fresh foliage.
