Hi
I'm new to growing plants and i've been growing a sunflower in this small pot for about 4 weeks now. The roots have become coiled at the bottom. It sits on my windowsill and receives about 3-4 hours of direct sunlight and then about 6-7 hours of indirect sunlight a day. I water it everyday.
One of the leaves started yellowing 4 days ago and I thought that it's just the plant recycling it's old leaf to accommodate for new ones. But since then few other leaves have started yellowing. I've also noticed that the water dries up quicker than usual.
If I were to up pot, would this be too big of a pot for it? I've read that one should only up pot about 1-2 inches from the current pot and worried about it getting root rot.
Also if this is too big of a pot, could I water it a little less to ensure that the roots aren't sitting in the moisture for too long?
The pot has drainage holes btw. Thanks in advance!

Just a gentle fyi that sunflowers aren’t supposed to be transplanted at all. They do best when planted directly in their final destination. While they’ll sometimes survive being transplanted, they have tap roots, which don’t like to be disturbed. That said, the issue with the yellowing leaves is almost certainly from insufficient light exposure. These need all day direct sun. 💚
If the soil is drying out quickly then it probably does need a bigger pot. But, these are not good indoor plants because they need a ton of bright, direct light, and has been mentioned they dislike being transplanted.
Do you have a place that you can plant it outdoors?
