I’m trying something new with my backyard mulberries today. I usually make mulberry crumbles or smoothies, but someone suggested I try making mulberry fruit leather, so I decided to give it a go.
This is my very first attempt and let’s just say it turned out a little different than expected. It ended up more like edible paper than a chewy fruit leather, but it still tasted pretty good. I might have spread it too thin or left it in the oven a bit too long. Next time I think I’ll adjust the thickness and maybe add a little sugar to make it more like a sweet, candy style treat.
I ended up snacking on it all day and my mouth turned completely purple from the mulberries. Definitely surprised my husband with that one.
If you have any tips for making fruit leather, I would love to hear them in the comments. I am still learning and experimenting with all the things I can make from my backyard garden harvest.
