Mushroom growing isn’t expensive or difficult. In today’s episode I will show you everything you need to know to take a log and turn it into. Mushroom growing machine that grows dozens of pounds of mushrooms.

Thanks Luke! I’ve been wondering about how to start mushrooms. It’s not often we see you operate a chainsaw here either, fun video!!
Don't forget your chaps, Luke! They save lives!
I have really enjoyed the videos I have seen. I wish I would have found you years ago and known what your mission was back then to get everything I needed.
Ive seen so much from Northshore lately, but have been hesitant because I tried to do a log from a local guy before and NOTHING… but maybe I need to give them a try.
I’d love to do this! But will they live year to year in Michigan winters?
I’m looking forward to an update on this project. I guess they can take a couple years to get going but I’m sure it’s worth it in the long run.
That's awesome!! I'm definitely growing mushrooms this year!!!
I love this idea!
…but what you could have really used in this situation is a Solo Stove! Something smaller like their Mesa model. It uses small, pencil sized sticks from the environment to make a contained camp fire.
Can't emphasize enough – if you grow mushrooms outside, be sure to get a local strain or non-invasive species. Oyster mushrooms commonly sold in kits are invasive and already causing ecological damage. Also, be sure you don't compost spent logs or grow substrate without sterilizing it in some way.
So my predicament is I stored 2 spore kits overwinter in my garage fridge right. I intended to get them plugged last year because we had cut part of our Ash tree early that Spring (?) and anyway, I ended up behind schedule in my gardens so I hoped it'd be fine to store them outdoors in the fridge where I also use for cold stratfication etc…
Welp. I was apparently silly to forget about how I also stored bagged flour in the freezer & bread starters ….um … Welp.
I'm at the Indiana & Michigan border. Usually cold enough winters. I think this garage fridge somehow got the exact temp to like EXPLODE inside with what I'm assuming is spores. Ummmm…. Not sure what to do but yeah. One kit is shiitake 😁 just haven't been brave to look back in the fridge the past few weeks. It ALIVE!!!
I hope I can salvage the mushroom spore & I hope they're just idk eating the flour ? I think there must have been flour spilled. Some science experiment going on in there for sure😬❓ Advice is appreciated
You're killing me smalls. I am into turning wood. Then again I'm a retired government employee so I'm use to feeling like a mushroom 😂
I have a couple of cherry trees that died last year from a fungus, so I have logs. I've tried growing mushroom kits in the past and were an abysmal failure all three times, maybe I'll try again. I just got the seeds I ordered from you today, of course, so now I have to go check out your website again.
I put in my first winecap bed a couple weeks ago! Can't wait to see how many I end up getting from it. I used some wasted space between my house and shed that stays in the shade and is a bit damp.
Thanks Luke. I am learning so much.
I love it. I always wanted to see this step by step.
I was just looking at the wine cap mushroom for under the tomato vine trellis from your shop. Thanks for sharing how to inoculate mushroom spawn.
Your always up to something interesting, I would love to try this!
Great video but man at least put some goggles on lmao! Also get the angle grinder adapter bit, it makes drilling the holes atleast 20x faster
Thank you
Safety last.😮 I do love mushrooms though. Black cherry trees smell great.
